Leal’s of Clovis is a family tradition! Since 1988, Laura Leal continued her family’s tradition of find Mexican food. This tradition is so iconic in our area that Leal’s has won Best of Clovis for over 20 years! Her brother, Victor, has now taken over the family business in the Clovis area. He has owned the Muleshoe location of Leal’s for decades, and is happy to continue what Laura started in Clovis.

The Leal’s siblings grew up in the restaurant business. They learned how to create the food you know and love, at the side of their beautiful mother. Since then, they have expanded the family business. There are locations in Clovis, New Mexico, and Plainview, Texas. Our Leal’s Tortilla Factory is in Muleshoe, Texas and Leal’s Tamale Factory is in Lubbock, Texas.

The Leal’s legacy began in 1957 with newlyweds, Jesse & Irma Leal. They saw the need for traditional Mexican Food in West Texas and wanted to provide for that need. West Texas locals and “braceros,” soon had bellies full of Leal’s family recipes.

On May 4th, 1957, Jesse and Irma opened Leal’s Café Tortilla Factory. The Leal’s sold hundreds of their handmade tortillas. They also served family recipes of barbacoa, huevos rancheros, tamales and menudo. Then in 1968, the Leal’s expanded by opening “El Nuevo Leal’s Restaurant” on American Blvd. in Muleshoe, Texas. This location has been home of Leal’s ever since. The other locations soon followed.

Today, Leal’s Mexican Restaurant in Clovis, NM offers a huge array of family recipes. You can expect their iconic chips and salsa on every table, and a menu full of traditional Mexican dishes. They offer quesadillas, tamales, fajitas, sopaipillas, chile rellenos, enchiladas and more! Leal’s of Clovis also has ice cold beer and a variety of margaritas for you to enjoy. They even have a margarita flight. Laura decided why try one, when you can try them all?

In Mexico, they say, “Mi casa es su casa.” The Leal’s family truly believes that! So, stop in, make yourself at home, and enjoy our delicious Mexican food. We look forward to serving you!
